Pi Media uses LAGO to produce catalogues for Canada’s largest retailer
Hamburg, 15th December 2004
Since establishing itself with subsidiaries on the North American market, Comosoft from Hamburg has gained notable clients in the USA, including JCPenney, Lillian Vernon and the Blair Corporation. This success has been continued in Canada since the end of 2004. The Canadian firm Pi Media will in future utilize LAGO from Comosoft for production on behalf of the retailing giant Sears Canada Inc. Print and internet catalogues, electronic ads and advertising attachments will from now on be produced and administered for Sears Canada using the content management and production system provided by the Hamburg software specialists.
Pi Media, one of the largest production and media providers for strategic marketing, graphic design, photography, premedia and print management in Canada, chose LAGO because the system enables simultaneous processing of print and internet content and, consequently, considerable time and cost savings. Workflows can all be designed with LAGO to achieve greater efficiency. This means that the system enables the rapid and secure exchange of digital inventory and product information between different departments and systems, resulting in a reduction of production times for the publications produced for Sears Canada. LAGO can also be utilized for the last-minute combination of product data from a variety of sources with the associated photos and images on pages to be printed in the internet or in a digital advertisement.
The time schedule for the introduction of LAGO at Pi Media foresaw production of the first test publications with the new solution early in 2005. The entire production for Sears, which includes a yearly volume of 10000 catalogue pages for around 20000 product offers and weekly flyers with an annual total of 3500 pages, will be realized in the summer of 2005 at the latest. Pi Media will simultaneously supply Sears branches with an annual production of 26 million campaign placards, logos and displays.
